Fiji has a total of 330 islands so it is hardly surprising that there are great exploring opportunities. In fact, few regions are developed for tourism so if you are after a little adventure try one of the following:
Get on a Cargo Boat and explore the remote Lau Group - you will probably need a month to explore the region. There are guesthouses at Lakeba and Vanua Balavu, but otherwise you will be relying on the hospitality of the locals - make sure you pay at least F$50 per day to your local host to cover your expenses and be sure to offer an introductory sevusevu (gift of Yaqona).
Fly or take the weekly ferry to Kadavu and explore the remote and rugged coastline, staying at a few secluded resorts along the coastline
Fly or take the ferry to Ovalau and the old capital of Levuka and then head out by local fishing boat to the Lomaiviti Islands - Koro and Gau are large islands with government rest houses, Naigani and Caqalai have small budget resorts, whilst Batiki and Moturiki have village home stays.
